Form Shooting

Purpose

Build perfect shooting mechanics from close range. Form shooting is the foundation of every great shooter.

How to Perform

Stand one to two feet from the rim. Shoot with one hand, focusing on elbow alignment, wrist snap, and follow-through. Use your guide hand only to balance, not push.

Key Coaching Points

  • Elbow under the ball, aligned with the rim
  • Wrist snaps down — 'gooseneck' follow-through
  • Guide hand stays still, doesn't push
  • Shoot up, not flat

Common Mistakes

  • Using two hands to push
  • Elbow flaring out
  • No wrist snap
  • Shooting flat instead of up

Recommended Reps

25 makes per hand. Daily, close to the rim.

How to Progress

Move back one step each week. Add the guide hand gradually. Then move to one-hand shooting from further out.
