Chapter 1 · 8 Drills

Ball Handling & Control

Build a tight, confident handle that holds up under pressure.

Master stationary control, pound dribbles, crossovers, between-the-legs, behind-the-back, change-of-pace, combination moves, and full-court ball handling. The foundation every player needs before advanced skills land.

1

Stationary Ball Control

Beginner

Develop a feel for the basketball and build the wrist, finger, and forearm strength that controls every dribble. Before you move, you must own the ball in place.

2

Pound Dribbles

Beginner

Build explosive dribbling power and a low, controlled handle. Pound dribbles train the fast-twitch response that makes every move sharper.

3

Crossovers

Beginner

Change direction quickly and keep the defender off balance. The crossover is the most used move in basketball — master the mechanics first.

4

Between-the-Legs

Beginner

Change direction while protecting the ball with your body. Between-the-legs is the safest, most game-ready change-of-direction move.

5

Behind-the-Back

Beginner

Change direction while fully protecting the ball and keeping your eyes and chest forward. A high-level move that reads defenders and opens driving lanes.

6

Change-of-Pace Dribbling

Beginner

Disrupt the defender's timing by varying speed. Change-of-pace is what turns a good handle into a game-effective handle.

7

Combination Moves

Beginner

Chain multiple moves together to keep defenders guessing. Combinations create separation against disciplined defenders.

8

Full-Court Ball Handling

Beginner

Transfer your handle into game-like movement at full speed. This is where stationary skills become game skills.
